The West Africa Agricultural Productivity Program (WAAPP) has injected significant investment in agricultural research infrastructure and human capacity in the region, strengthening the position of West African countries to perform high-quality, priority research over the coming years. Now available in French translation, this report focuses on developments in investments, human resource capacity, and research outputs in African agricultural research during 2000–2014. It finds that, although SSA countries have made progress honoring regionwide CAADP commitments, growth in agricultural research investments has lagged considerably behind spending on other agricultural areas, such as farm support, subsidies, and irrigation.
