On August 31st,  Ghana's Science and Technology Policy Research Institute (CSIR - STEPRI) together with ASTI/IFPRI, convened a stakeholders’ dissemination workshop in Accra.  The workshop presented the achievements and outcomes of the ASTI surveys in Ghana over the past few years to all the relevant stakeholders in the agriculture sector, including the agencies who provided the data.

The specific objectives of the workshop were to:

  • offer the selected agricultural research agencies the platform to give their own assessment of the surveys,

  • communicate to policy makers and the general Ghanaian public achievements of the ASTI survey in Ghana,

  • increase the use of ASTI data for analysis and influencing decision making by policy makers,

  • outline critical challenges facing agricultural research in Ghana, and

  • engage mass media to popularize ASTI outputs in Ghana.

The event attracted more than 60 attendees and media coverage including TV3 and United Television evening news, the Ghanaian Times, and the Ghana News Agency.  Recommendations from the workshop are expected to inform the development of a strategy to enhance the up-take of ASTI data and information for  agricultural research and development policy in Ghana.
